Wine architecture: must-see wine cellars just a few kilometres from our agritourisms

Within an hour’s drive of our agritourisms are many of the ‘flagship’ wine cellars of the Tuscan Maremma, which is why tours inside their extraordinary architectural structures and wine tastings are truly unmissable occasions!

The Le Mortelle winery is located in the lower Maremma near Castiglione Della Pescaia. It is a farm owned by the Antinori family, a Tuscan family for generations, who have dedicated their lives to viticulture in these lands for more than a hundred years.
Since 1999, they have decided to devote their work not only to the vineyards but also to the new wine cellar, where they produce wines of great quality.
On an architectural level, the Antinori family wanted to look at modernity by building an underground cellar inspired by the nearby Etruscan necropolis, but at the same time looking at modernity as it is made of natural materials and with the utmost respect for nature.

Cantina Petra, on the other hand, expresses the identity of the place and enhances the beauty of the natural oasis that “hosts” it through a rational architecture consisting of a front excavated in the hill and a cylindrical centre of great impact.
Its production is a combination of the best wines from Italy and France: Sangioveto, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Vermentino vineyards.

Colle Massari is a winery in Cinigiano at the foot of Monte Amiata, named after the Collemassari castle, a place where wine has been produced since ancient times.
The cellar premises, made of wood, are located inside the hill.

Finally, we suggest a visit to La Tenuta Ammiraglia, which stands in the heart of the Maremma and is perfectly integrated with it thanks to its modern line, facing the sea. The natural setting is highly evocative, surrounded by an unspoilt natural environment from which you can see the Argentario promontory, the island of Giglio and the typical colours of the Tuscan Maremma.
The Tenuta Ammiraglia produces wines that we absolutely recommend you try!
