Sustainable Tourism in Maremma

This is known to those who choose a type of sustainable tourism, which looks to the future both on the economic development and on the environmental one, in fact, starting from 2019, the Maremma Regional Park has been recognized as “European excellence” in terms of sustainable tourism, an award that fills all the inhabitants of this Tuscan area with honor and which invests them with a very high responsibility towards the protection and respect of their natural heritage.

The Europarc Federation has awarded the Park with European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (CETS) for a period of five years, from 2019 to 2024. A great recognition and a great opportunity for one of the most loved territories in Italy. Receiving the CETS also means laying the foundations for the organization of methodologies and strategies aimed at the tourism development of areas of great environmental importance. Obtaining this certification also means receiving collaboration from the members of the continental organization that manages the protected areas of other European countries.

Choosing the Maremma therefore also means the choose a type of traveling that is aware of both territory and the human impact on the environment. Deciding to stay in Maremma also means being aware of respect for the places, flora and fauna and the inhabitants who live around the protected areas.
