September in Maremma, last sun in Castiglione della Pescaia

The last caresses of sun are ahead. But still the desire for summer is in the air and September is one of the best months to go to the beach. So here we propose a perfect weekend to spend in Castiglione della Pescaia and surroundings to say good by to the summer without regrets. We start from Saturday morning with a tour of the local market held in the market square, the side that borders the harbor and the boats is very picturesque. Here you will find everything: hats, shoes, costumes or beach towels. In the inner rows instead there are the food stands, with cheeses, meats, etc., both to take away and to eat on the spot as a snack. When you are satisfied with your purchases it is time to spend the day on the beach, for your day at the beach in September we recommend going to Rocchette, 10 minutes by car to the north. Once at the beach, make yourself comfortable and enjoy the heat and the view of the cliff with its fortress overlooking the sea. On this beach you will find everything, you can go to the free or equipped beach, you can rent a pedal boat and visit the rocks or stay on the beach and play beach volleyball. When you get hungry, the bars in the area will give you a good offer and you will surely find both spaghetti with clams and mixed fried seafood. Taking the suntan to bring a little tan to the autumn afterwards it’s time to go back to the village and cool off with one of the best Tuscan ice creams. At the beginning of the main wlking street you will find the Corradini ice cream (, with a list of truly unique flavors and ingredients, 100% artisan flavor! Now it’s time to go to the old town and enjoy the sunset over the sea. In fact going up the pedestrian street Italo Calvino you will arrive at the entrance of the medieval walls seaside, if you are lucky enough the bench will be free and you can enjoy the gentle descent of the sun. When the air is between red and blue take a little walk in the old town just inside the walls and if you want to stop at the Posto Pubblico ( a refined kitchen will delight your taste buds. If you still have energy to spend just a few meters away from the restaurant the local nightlife starts, then head downhill towards Via Camaiori and if you do not find it ask how to get in “salitina”, as the locals call it. Have a nice weekend! … and don’t forget to take a look at our September offers to better organize your seaside weekend in Maremma!
