Cycling tourism in Maremma

For cycling enthusiasts the Maremma is an unmissable destination. In fact, there are many cycling routes that extend through the wonderful landscapes of the Maremma. Find routes of all kinds, suitable for both beginners and experts.

Among the most famous tracks there is certainly the Gran Tour della Maremma, about 366 kilometers of pure splendor: this itinerary will take you to discover the Colline Metallifere in Massa Marittima are, then the Hills, the Tufo Area close to Pitigliano, will make you admire the hills of Manciano and the Costa d’Argento, until you can enjoy the sea breeze of Castiglione della Pescaia. In addition, this route provides alternative routes both for those who love cycling in nature and for those who prefer road bikes. Maremma truly offers all types of itineraries to experience cycling: asphalted roads, dirt roads and more challenging paths to be tackled by mountain bike.

Alternatively, there are also slightly shorter, but no less fascinating routes. For example, it is possible to travel about 100 kilometers, starting from Follonica, passing through Castiglione della Pescaia and arriving up to Magliano in Toscana, from which you can choose whether to head towards Capalbio or continue towards Orbetello. This route is part of the Ciclopista del Sole, a series of roads and cycle paths recommended for cycling through Italy from North to South.

There are also several daily routes, such as the Argentario tour: a ring that starts from Orbetello and passes through Porto Ercole, Punta Avvoltore and Porto Santo Stefano. Or you can cycle along the ring that starts from Grosseto, to reach Magliano, Scansano and then get back to the starting point. Then there is the path of the Etruscans, which from Follonica passes through Scarlino, Ravi, Caldana, Tirli, Castiglione della Pescaia, Pian D’Alma and then returns to the initial location. Another pleasant itinerary starts from Grosseto and arrives in Castiglione della Pescaia through the reclamation route. Finally, there is the Maremma Park, within which there are various paths with different levels of difficulty that will equally give all visitors magical moments in nature, made special also thanks to the encounter with the local animals present living wild in the area and thanks to one of the great protagonists of the Mediterranean scrub: the sea.
